The word "spa" has become a trendy buzzword over the last few years, but what is it about "spa" that means so much to us? The International Spa Association (ISPA) defines spa this way: "Spas are entities devoted to enhancing overall well-being through a variety of professional services that encourage the renewal of the mind, body and spirit."
For spa professionals, spa means the opportunity to educate the public about the myriad physical, mental and emotional benefits of spa therapy treatments; it's helping others get in touch with their physical and spiritual selves; and it's teaching clients how to care for themselves between spa visits.
For the spa-goer, it means the opportunity to escape, recharge, and return to the world with a renewed sense of spirit; it means treating oneself to a much-deserved break from the stress and pressures of everyday life; and it's understanding that in order to give back to the world, one must first care for him or herself.
