Spa Associations Release 2005-2006 Joint Directory
The Day Spa Association and the International Medical Spa Assocation have released the 14th edition of their directory -- a nationwide guide to day and medical spas, spa products and service companies. The 68-page glossy directory also serves as a membership roster for both organizations. The directory also features the " Essence of a Day Spa," guidelines designed to educate consumers about what to expect from a day spa.
"These guidelines clearly enable the consumer to distinguish a true day spa from a salon offering a few spa services," said Hannelore R. Leavy, association founder and executive director, in a press release. "It is vital to establish this differentiation in order not to mislead the public into thinking they are in a day spa when they are actually receiving a service in a salon setting whose emphasis is on haircuts, perms, coloring and acrylic nails. Our hope is that once a person is exposed to spa treatments they will seek the true spa setting."
